Traditional Camp

A Summer Camp Experience For Campers Ages 4 to 15 years old

Campers enjoy a wide variety of Arts, Sports, Science and Outdoor Adventure activities.

As they grow, campers graduate from unit to unit, experiencing new and more challenging activities!

Campers are divided into units based on their completed grade as of June 2024.

  • Pandas – Nursery*, JK and SK
  • Tigers – Grades 1 and 2
  • Hawks – Grades 3 and 4
  • Mustangs – Grades 5 and 6
  • Otters (Optional Specialty Program) – Grades 1 to 6
  • LTPs (Leadership Training Program) – Grades 7, 8 and 9

Campers are grouped by their current grade. Cabin groups are based on friend requests and registration. There are 2-4 counsellors per group of 12 children, depending on their age.

*Campers currently in nursery (born in 2020), must be 4 prior to their first day of camp.

Along with their counsellors, campers participate in a variety of age appropriate activities, most of which are taught by specialty instructors. Each day, campers can look forward to many different activities.

With over 20 activities at camp your child will have a great mix of art, science, nature, sport, outdoor adventure, and performing arts activities.

Optional Specialty Programs

Welcome to the Otters Unit! Our Otters campers have the opportunity to participate in Optional Specialty Programs that provide a hands-on teaching approach and age appropriate lessons! These programs are meant to be recreational based while developing important life skills that each unique program offers. Programs are located both onsite and offsite, transportation included. Campers that are registered for an Optional Specialty Program will participate in that activity for half of the camp day and the other half of the day is spent participating in our Traditional Camp program. It's the best of both worlds!

Leadership Training Program (LTP)

Welcome to the LTP Unit! The Leadership Training Program is a multifaceted 2-week session that prepares teens for leadership roles both at Camp Riverwood and for their future. This program provides a great balance of group bonding time, camp placements, training workshops, leadership opportunities, camp activities and community service initiatives; including the opportunity to earn up to 20 community service volunteer hours for high school.
